RABBITVILLE, Mo. — Brooklyn Weibrecht netted a game-high 13 points, and sixth-seeded Valle Catholic beat 11th-seeded Valley 53-20 in the first round of the Mineral Area Activities Association conference tournament on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Kingston High.
Ade Weiler finished with 10 points while Madelyn Griffard added nine and Mara Hoog chipped in seven.
Valle Catholic (14-7), which snapped a two-game losing streak, outscored the Caledonia-based Vikings 21-0 in the second quarter to lead 41-9 at halftime.
Haylee Moore scored six points, and Hayden Jones provided five for Valley (8-13), which saw its three-game winning streak come to a halt.

Valle (13-7), which has lost two straight, trailed 15-13 after one quarter, 25-18 at the break and 38-31 after three quarters.
Calie Allgier led all scorers with 15 points, while Ava Penuel had 13 points, and freshman Maggie Wood added 12 points — all three had two 3-pointers apiece — for the Blackcats (10-10), who snapped a two-game skid.

Dragons 39, Warriors 36
STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. — A late-minute surge was not enough for Valle Catholic as Ste. Genevieve held on for the victory in the second meeting between the crosstown rivals last Wednesday, Jan. 31, at VCHS.
Senior guard Ade Weiler (13 points), junior center Brooklyn Weibrecht (12 points) led the Warriors (13-6), who have lost two of their last three.
Weiler nailed a 3-pointer at the final buzzer.
Junior guard Chloe Staffen (16 points) powered the Dragons, who led 22-12 at intermission.
Ste. Genevieve was 12 for 15 from the foul line, while Valle was only 3-14 from it.

This game also was an MAAA interleague matchup.
The Warriors won the first meeting this season, 38-35 on Nov. 30, also at Valle.

Warriors 54, West Co. 34
STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. — Valle Catholic turned an 11-6 deficit into a rout to defeat the “Purple Pups” in wrapping up MAAA action last Monday, Jan. 29, at the VCHS gym.
The Warriors (13-5, 4-1 MAAA) won for the second time in three games as they outscored the Bulldogs 40-15 in the middle quarters and never looked back. They trailed 11-6 after one period, but crawled back in the second quarter for a 19-16 advantage at the break.
A 27-10 outburst in the third round gave Valle a 46-26 lead to start the final frame.
Senior Ade Weiler and freshman Mara Hoog both posted eight points. Brooklyn Weibrecht had seven.
Paige Monroe scored 10 points on three 3-pointers for the Pups (7-14, 2-3), who has lost two of their last three games.

The Warriors continue action this week in the 12-team, double-elimination MAAA tournament, which will now move to the Bob Sechrest Sr. Fieldhouse at Mineral Area College in Park Hills. They faced Arcadia Valley this past Tuesday, Feb. 6.
