Le Petits Chanteurs Leader Patti Naeger Dies

Patti Sexauer Naeger, longtime leader of the French singing group  Les Petits Chanteurs, died at her home on March 1.

She was 70 years old and had suffered from congestive heart failure for several years.

Naeger took over Les Petits Chanteurs from its founder,Claire Condon, and led it for more than 30 years. Her own children comprised a bulk of the group over the years.

She and her husband Bill were cornerstones of the Ste. Genevieve heritage and cultural tourism scene. In addition to the singing group, Patti and Bill regularly performed traditional French and German songs during local festivals.

The couple also coauthored a coffee table book on Ste. Genevieve’s history, architecture and charm. Patti, herself, grew up in the historic Francois Valle II House.
