PARK HILLS — Junior Bri Abt scored 15 points and Lexi Warren added a career-high 12 points, but it was not enough as the O’Connor girls combined for 30
points to lead Central to a 69-35 victory Thursday at CHS in a battle between conference leaders.
The host Rebels, who won their eighth straight game and saw four players score in double figures, stayed unbeaten atop the large-schools division of the Mineral Area Activities Association.
Central (12-2, 3-0 MAAA) only has to beat one of the struggling clubs of Fredericktown and Potosi to clinch another conference crown.
The Dragons (7-6, 1-1), who lost for the second time in three games, suffered their first loss in league play. They get could get nothing going from the T.J. Foulon Fieldhouse floor as they trailed 34-13 at halftime and 59-23 heading into the final frame.
Warren’s points all came off the bench and in the second half.
Taylor O’Connor scored 11 of her game-high 19 points, and Allysa O’Connor added 11 points.
Khloe Dischbein added 13 points and Blair Sitton had 10 points.
