Leanne Marie Doza

Leanne Marie Doza, age 75, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at her home.  She was born October 29, 1948 in Zell, Missouri, the daughter of the late Edna (nee Grass) and Arthur Herman.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years Oscar Doza, Jr.; son Chad Michael Doza of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers Wayne Herman of Hillsboro, Missouri, Leon (Eileen) Herman of Zell, Ronald (Angela) Herman of Perryville, Missouri, and Eugene (Cheyle) Herman of Hillsboro.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Robert (Barb Friedman survives of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri) Herman and Richard (Gwen survives of Ste. Genevieve) Herman.

Leanne attended Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, Missouri volunteering to cook for the parish events, funeral dinners, and other events.  She also was a volunteer at the thrift store. Leanne made friends wherever she went.

She was a retired IT analyst and programmer for Vantage Credit Union in Bridgeton, Missouri. She was most proud to have obtained her Associates degree in Computer Information Systems. Leanne worked hard not only outside of the home, but even harder taking care of her family and friends. She wasn’t good at sitting still and she never shied away from the most physical tasks, which at home consisted of gardening, feeding the hummingbirds, and stoking the wood stove.

Family was her biggest priority and joy. After the early passing of her parents, Leanne took on the role of mother to her six brothers. She spent her life serving others and ministering to their needs. With only having one child, Leanne was able to pour herself into her son. She couldn’t have been prouder of the man Chad became sharing frequent updates with her friends and family.

At their cabin in northern Missouri, she enjoyed hunting and fishing and she was the “camp cook”. She was competitive with getting the biggest deer and she scored the biggest buck several different times, always eager compete with the “boys”. She frequently reminded her husband and brothers that she harvested the biggest turkey ever on that property. When Leanne occasionally took a break from the kitchen, she would seek a shrimp dinner at her favorite seafood eateries.

Visitation was Monday, December 18, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.  Funeral Mass was 10:00 am Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church, officiated by Fr. Michael Boehm.  Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Zell.  Memorials in Leanne’s memory are preferred to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
