The Mississippi River was being dredged around Ste. Genevieve last week. The river dropped below 0 feet on the Chester, Ill. gauge last week, leading to widespread concern about barge traffic. The Ste. Genevieve-Modoc Ferry has been shut down for some time by the low river levels.
