Jeffrey John Layton

Jeffrey John Layton, 65, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Thursday, August 10, 2023 at his home.

He was born June 29, 1958 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Jerry and Betty Schweiss Layton.

He and Cynthia Grither were married August 24, 1979 at Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.

He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Layton of Cape Girardeau; mother, Betty Layton of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; a sister, Lori (Ron) Reinagel of Kelso, Missouri; two brothers, Tom (Connie Wisdom) Layton of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri and Tim (Annita) Layton of Cape Girardeau; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and -nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation was 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau, with Parish Prayers at 3:00 p.m..

Funeral Mass was at 10:00 am Monday, August 14, 2023 at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating.

Burial was at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
