Ronald Estess “Mac” McDaniel

Ronald Estess “Mac” McDaniel, 86, of DeSoto died July 14, 2023 in St. Louis.  He was born on February 9, 1937 in Ste. Genevieve, MO, the oldest child of the late Clorabelle (Wilburn) McDaniel and Otto McDaniel.

Ronnie was a proud graduate of Ste. Genevieve High School, class of 1955.  He was a U. S. Army veteran and member of DeSoto Amvets Post 48.  He worked as a sheet metal worker with Local Union 36 for many years prior to retiring.  He enjoyed Cardinal baseball, watching high school sports and spending time with family and friends.  Ronnie loved life, family and friends and was always willing to help those who meant so much to him.  What we have in memory remains unchanged forever.  Rest in peace.

He is survived by two brothers: Gary (Linda) McDaniel of Elk Rapids, MI and Terry (Regina) McDaniel of Ste. Genevieve; a sister: Donna (Tom) Corson of Deltona, FL; three nephews: Michael Estess (Rachel) McDaniel of Ste. Genevieve, Douglas (Loretta)  McDaniel of Deland FL and Carl Dechow of Williamsburg MI; two nieces: Katrina McDaniel of Ankeny, IA and  Cheryl (David) Brattley of Fleetwood, PA;  10 great-nieces and great-nephews: Allison, Megan, Ryan, Nikki, Mayson, Rosamund, Leighton, Rodney, Stephen and Christopher; the Portell family and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clorabelle (Wilburn) McDaniel and Otto McDaniel; his wife: Lucy; brother: Stanley McDaniel; sister-in-law: Simone McDaniel; and niece: Donna Lee McDaniel.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 24 at Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.  A graveside service followed at Peaceful Ridge Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
