Michael “Mike” M. Filer

Michael “Mike” M. Filer, passed away May 2, 2023, at his home on the beloved family farm in Lawrenceton, Missouri.  He was born October 7, 1940, in Crystal City, Missouri to the late Medford Filer and Edith (Papin) Filer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded by an infant brother, David Filer and sister, Gwen Caputo. 

Mike was a kind, honest, hardworking man who loved his farm and was well respected by many.  Above all, he loved his family.  He worked at River Cement Company for 22 years and then farmed full-time.  During his life he enjoyed working on the farm, making homemade wine, woodworking, running his sawmill, fishing, mushroom hunting, reading and spending time with his various dogs throughout the years.  He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Angela (Bookholtz) Filer; sons, David (Annette) Filer, Dan (Peggy) Filer and Jon (Brandie) Filer, all of Lawrenceton; daughters, Sylvia (Mrs. Alan) Bauman of Ozora and Mary (Mrs. Robert) Pyatt of Farmington; grandchildren, Michael Filer, Courtney Cook, Stephen Bauman, Jessica Weiler, Matt Bauman, Megan Drinen, Connor Pyatt, Andrew Filer, Katie Filer, Tucker Pyatt, Eli Filer, Aleah Filer and Mayleigh Filer;  great granddaughter, Elayna Pyatt; brothers, Richard Filer (Jackie), Steve Filer (Sharon), Greg Filer (Chis), Mark Filer (Sandy); and sister, Mary Beth (Mrs. Patrick) Werner.

Visitation will be at Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington on Friday, May 12 from 5 – 8 p.m. and will resume on Saturday, May 13 from 9 – 11 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12 noon at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceton.  Interment will follow at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery.
