Wilfred Charles Figge

Wilfred Charles Figge, age 85, of Pevely, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Mercy Hospital South in South St. Louis County, Missouri.  He was born November 1, 1937 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, the son of the late Rose (nee Pfaff) and Xavier Figge.

He is survived by his wife Wanda (nee Mattingly) Figge of Pevely; sonsw Robert Figge of Hillsboro, Missouri, Joseph Figge of Pevely, Richard (Angie) Figge of DeSoto, Missouri, and Steven Figge of Dittmer, Missouri, daughters Cheryl (Don) Blumm of Dittmer, and Donna (Andy) Orlando of Hillsboro; sisters Rosella (the late Eddie) Otte of Ozora, Missouri, and Betty (Merlin) Moonier; brother Ernie (the late Judy) Figge of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; grandchildren Ashley, Nicole, Robert Jr., Ryan, Richard II, Frankie, Joseph, Frank, Chico, Cheryl and Vito; and great-grandchildren Scarlet, Richard III, Frankie, Jr., Arlo, Vince, Ace, Adrianna, Nico and one on the way.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Mary Figge; and siblings Dorothy Friedman, Donald Figge, Norman (Helen) Figge and Lucille (Dale) Moonier.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, Missouri; a retired General Motors autoworker and Chevy driver, and worked at Andy’s Produce in House Springs, Missouri where he was affectionately known as the water boy.  He never had a bad thing to say about anyone, was always smiling, believed in the power of prayer, and his favorite phrase was “the good Lord willing and the creeks don’t rise”.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working the chains with his grandsons little Chico and Vito at football games. 

Visitation 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely.  Funeral services 10:00 am Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the funeral home, officiated by Fr. Mathew Cheruparambil, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church.  Interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely.  Memorials in Wilfred’s memory are preferred to Pony Bird.
