COLUMBIA, Mo.  —  Gage Gross and Addison Geiler reached the semifinals of their respective weight brackets after the conclusion of Day 1 at the two-day

Missouri State High Schools Activities Association

MSHSAA wrestling championships Wednesday (Feb. 22) at the Mizzou Arena on the campus of the University of Missouri.

They both have earned all-state status and are the only two Dragons to advance in the winners’ side of the brackets for Thursday’s conclusion.

Eight other Dragons are still battling in the Class 2 state boys’ competition, while a second Lady Dragon still remains in the Class 1 girls’ field.

In addition to Gross in the semifinals, the rest of the Dragons are all in the wrestlebacks: Drake Meyer, Bryant Schwent, Isaiah Basler, Evan Winters, Mason Langeneckert, Gabe Willett, Dalton McBride and Jacob Schweigert each are 2-1 so far and hope to earn all-state medals.

In the girls’ field: Hailey Wheeler also is 2-1 and is in the third round of the wrestlebacks trying to earn an all-state medal.

Meanwhile, the Warriors struggled all over as only heavyweight Espn Reed survived the day as he dropped into the wrestlebacks also hoping to claim an all-state medal in the Class 1 boys’ field.
