Dragons 9th At St. Charles Invite

ST. CHARLES, M0. — Three girls of the Ste. Genevieve wrestling team took third place as the Dragons claimed ninth place out of 31 teams at the St. Charles Invitational over the weekend (Jan. 20-11) at SCHS.
The Dragons scored 85 points overall.
Hollyn Zangaro (120-pound division), Addison Geiler (125) and Katlynn Lay (130) each claimed bronze medals in their respective brackets.

Zangaro scored 20 team points, Geiler also scored 20 points and Lay added 19 to power the Dragons.
Ragan Picou (135) took fifth place with 13 points, while Liliana Hastings earned sixth place with nine points.
Hailey Wheeler also competed, scoring nine points herself.
Holt (Wentzville) ran away with the event with 214.5 points, while Wright City (133) and Ft. Zumwalt North (128.5) rounded out the top three.

Dragons 27, Jackson 6
JACKSON, Mo. — Ste. Genevieve broke a 6-6 tie by winning the next four matches as they had a better time with the host at Jackson High on Wednesday (Jan. 11). It was part of a girls’ wrestling tri-match that included Sikeston.
There were seven double forfeits in this dual, which started at the 100-pound division, including the first three weight divisions.
The Dragons claimed one win by pin and received three forfeit wins, plus one decided by a decision.
Linley Wehner (115) won her match by pin in the third period, and Addison Geiler (130) won by decision.
Ragan Picou (140), Hailey Wheeler (145) and Liliana Hastings (190) all won by forfeit.

Sikeston 48, Dragons 6
JACKSON, Mo. — Ste. Genevieve managed only one victory near the end as the Bulldogs rolled to a 42-0 advantage from the start as it was part of a girls’ wrestling tri-match with the host Jackson last Wednesday (Jan. 11).
The Dragons lost five matches by pin another gave up four other spots by forfeit.
The match started at the 100-pound division and there were four double forfeits in all.
Liliana Hastings won her match over Keniya Horton by pinfall.

The Dragons head back to Jackson High to compete at the Southeast Missouri Conference girls’ tournament on either Friday (Jan. 20) or Saturday (Jan. 21) or both days with a times to be determined.
