STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.  —  Valle Catholic did not win its own Christmas tournament, so they beat the team that did.

The host Warriors got five different scorers in double figures and outlasted St. Vincent in a back-and-forth boys’ basketball thriller to pull off a 60-57 victory in the final seconds last Tuesday night (1.3.2023) at the VCHS gym.

Chase Fallert punched in a team-high 17 points to led the Warriors (7-3), who won their second straight game. With 4.4 seconds left in the game, the Indians threw in the inbound and managed to launch a desperation 3-pointer that was off the mark as time expired.

Harry Oliver added 11 points, while Sam Drury, Clayton Drury and Carson Tucker each scored 10 points.

Valle trailed 38-30 at halftime, but tied it at 48-all after three periods.

Dylan DeWilde led all with 19 points, Grant Abernathy added 15 points and Blake Monier had 12.

The week before on this very floor at the Winter Warrior Classic, Valle settled for third place as the second seed, while St. Vincent won it as the four seed.
