Commissioners Grill Aptitude Cable Rep

By MARK EVANS

STE. GENEVIEVE HERALD

Bill Denkler of Aptitude Internet discussed plans to install cable in the county. The commissioners were clearly skeptical after dealing with Spectrum and its various contractors like MasTec. MasTec created several road hazards as well as trespassed on private property and installed pedestals on private property without permission and on county right of ways where mowers and snowplows will need to go.

Nelson told him it has been “a terrible, terrible experience.”

The work would be on Straughn and Hart-Pinkston roads.

Denkler said the company has already obtained most of the right of ways it will need and that it will be all buried cable, with no tubes or pedestals.

Nelson noted that there had been no complaints when Aptitude had worked at Lake Forest and that Citizens Electric Corporation and Public Water Supply District No. 1 all provided good references for Aptitude.

Denkler said Aptitude uses only one contractor and that it maintains “very strict oversight.”
