Rita M. (Schwent) Zerwig, 93 years old, of Sainte Genevieve, MO, died Monday, September 19, 2022 at Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Ste. Genevieve, MO.

She was born June 11, 1929 in Lawrenceton, MO and was married to Carl Zerwig on October 28, 1950.

She is survived by Son, William “Bill” (Geri) Zerwig of Sainte Genevieve, MO; Daughter-in-law, Carol Zerwig; Sister, Mary Alice (Glennon) Stackle; Two Sister-in-laws, Lucille Schwent and Evelyn Schwent; Grandchildren, Keith (Theresa) Zerwig, Randy (Holly) Zerwig, Mark (Shawna) Zerwig, Stacey (Nick) Vitale, James (Shanna) Zerwig, Christina (Robert) Madden, Andrew (Faria) Zerwig; Great-Grandchildren, Karley (Joseph) Henderson, Bray, Jace, Dustin, Abigail, Nicholas (Laura) Zerwig, Isabella, Job, Nicholas, Tristan, Soraya, Gavin, Ava, Olivia, Nora; Great-Great-Grandchildren, Adie, Nora, Everly, Graham, and Collins.

She was preceded in death by Husband, Carl Zerwig; Son, Daniel C. Zerwig; Father, Harry L. Schwent; Mother, Elizabeth Schwent; Two Brothers, Leon Schwent and Virgil Schwent; Great-Grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, and Cody.

Visitation was at Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, MO on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 9:00 am till 10:40 am.

Service was at St. Agnes Church on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Bloomsdale, MO.

Memorials can be made to St. Agnes Church.

Rita Mae loved spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted parishioner at St. Agnes Church where she volunteered most of her time. She enjoyed dancing, shopping and watching Wheel of Fortune. She also loved playing Bingo and sharing a meal with her long time friends. Also, no one could beat her in Chinese checkers.
