During a 10-minute meeting last Thursday, the Ste. Genevieve Planning and Zoning Commission approved a request from S & W Storage for a special use permit to allow self-storage facilities in a C-1 General Commercial District at 11307 Save-A-Lot Drive.

Owner Megan Wade took part by telephone.

David Bova, community development administrator, said a few neighbors had called with questions about the proposal.

“They really just had questions about the layout of the buildings the number of stories, whether there would be a fence,” he said. Bova said he did not receive any  opposition for the request.

Amanda Hutchings asked whether the facility would be gated. Wade said they did not initially plan to gate the facility She said, though, that everything will be indoors.

“There are two doors on the outside of the building. So you have to actually enter to facility to get to the storage area.”

Gina Bryant asked whether users would be able to access the property 24/7. Wade said users would be able to use the facility 24 hours a day by keypad entry, unless there becomes a problem with that.

She said there are no plans to have any outdoor storage.

“All three buildings will take up the entire property,” she said.
