Honey Festival Returning June 25
From Staff Reports
Downtown Ste. Genevieve will be the site of the Second Annual Honey Festival and Market this Saturday.
“Our guests are treated to a full day of live music, honey bee education, countless shopping and food vendors, mead garden, and endless honey tastings,” said Amanda Hutchings, co-founder of Harold’s Famous Bee Company (HFBC). “The event is fun for the entire family.”
This year, a special guest will be Hives for Heroes, a non-profit military organization headquartered in Texas. Hives for Heroes focuses on honey bee conservation and a healthy transition from service. Through the national network of beekeepers and veterans, they provide connection, purpose, and healthy relationships fostering a lifelong hobby in beekeeping.
According to Hutchings, there will be countless things to see and do. “Join beekeepers as they discuss beekeeping, view the inner workings of an observation hive, watch a live bee beard presentation, or experience a honey harvesting,” she said. “Try your hand at spinning the extractor, sample some fresh, raw honey, then do a little shopping with our numerous Farmers-Market style craft and food vendors vendors.”
