Lady Dragons win districts track meet

The Ste. Genevieve girls’ track and field team won the MSHSAA Class 3 District 1 championship Saturday at Notre Dame Catholic High in Cape Girardeau, Mo. There were 11-teams competing in both girls’ and boys’ events.

The lady Dragons advanced 9 student-athletes to the state sectionals in 15 events as each girl placed in the districts’ top-four spots. They won six district golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronzes, plus a another fourth-place spot for all-district honors.

The Dragons took seventh place overall in the boys’ field. They saw 7 student-athletes advance in 5 events with 2 silver and 2 bronze finishes, plus a fourth-place finish for all-district medals.
