Flieg wins OVC javelin championship

Marysa Flieg, a Southeast Missouri State true freshman, won the Ohio Valley Conference javelin championship a few hours ago. She posted a mark of 45.22 meters (148 feet, 36 inches or 49.45 yards) on her first attempt Wednesday to win the conference crown.
Earlier in the season, the Redhawks standout also was named the OVC female freshman of the week for three straight weeks.

Flieg is a former Ste. Genevieve High School track and field all-state athlete and MSHSAA javelin state champion in 2021 as she helped the Lady Dragons also win the state team title. She is the youngest child and only daughter of Jason and Julie Flieg, the retiring Ste. Genevieve R-2 Schools Superintendent.
