McClure, Bertram power way to conference titles

Seniors Luke McClure and Ella Bertram both clinched double conference championships after claiming two gold medals apiece at the Mineral Area Activities Association track and field meet Friday night at Farmington High.
The two helped Valle Catholic earn a respectful finish in both fields as the smallest school in the nine-team field.
McClure, a collegiate track recruit, led with four total top-three conference medals, while junior Josef Flieg, junior Braden Coleman and freshman Josh Fallert each finished with two medals for the Warriors.
Also, Bertram, senior Sam Loida, senior Hailey Weibrecht, freshman Madelyn Griffard and senior Katie Kertz each claimed two top-three medals for the Lady Warriors.
In all, VCHS combined to win 11 total conference medals as the Lady Warriors placed fifth overall in this meet, while the Warriors were sixth.
