PERRYVILLE — Rudy Flieg posted a double-double as Ste. Genevieve closed out its regular season with a dominant 65-28 victory over the host Perryville Pirates on President’s Day last Monday (Feb. 21) during boys’ basketball action.
Flieg scored a game-high 16 points — 10 in the third quarter — with a 3-pointer and grabbed 13 rebounds to power the Dragons (19-7), who have won six of their last seven games heading into districts.
Ste. Genevieve, which had 38 total rebounds, outscored the Pirates 39-10 in the middle frames and never looked back. It was just 19-14 after one quarter.
Aiden Boyer just missed his own double-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Blake Morganthaler also had 10 points with two 3-pointers and six rebounds. Thomas O’Brien added seven points, while Wesley Basler had six points. Ricky Hunter had four assists and three steals.
Jackie Truong had a team-high 10 points with two 3-pointers as Perryville (2-25) lost its 12th straight games and 13th of their its last 14.
