Curtis Willard Meyer

Curtis Willard Meyer of Bloomsdale, MO passed away 1-9-22 in Jackson, AL surrounded by family and loved ones. Curt was born March 26, 1940 to Carl Meyer & Meldred Meyer, he was 81. Curt grew up in Breese, Il and attended school in Breese and Carlyle, IL. He started in a shoe factory and lumber company, but quickly moved into the trucking industry as an owner operator in the early 70’s. In 1985, Curt moved to Ste. Genevieve, MO and started a small division of Beelman Truck Co, called US Carriers, in a building behind The Genevieve Tavern. This 4 truck division grew into the 200+ truck unit operation that currently operates in Ste. Genevieve MO. Before retirement he opened other terminals in Indianapolis, IN, Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO.

Curt was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years Sharon and his parents Carl & Meldred. 

Curt is survived by his brother Gary Meyer(Vicki), Sister Charlotte Foster(Charles “Buddy”), Sister Carla Meyer(Edwin) stepson Brent Benassi(Lori), Daughter Crystal Carroll(Michael Severity), Son Dosker Meyer(Eva), 7 grandkids – Corey Meyer(Mandy), Caley Meyer(Kelsey), Caitlin Meyer(Brad), Courtney Isaak(Austin), Carli Moss(Justin), Greyson Siddens , Emersen Siddens and 9 great grandchildren.

Curt never met a stray animal he wouldn’t take in – dogs, cats, racoons, opossum, squirrels or pigs. In retirement he was an avid fisherman. Curt was a tough man with a heart of gold, he loved life and loved to laugh. He will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Ste. Genevieve, MO on March 12, 2022. Visitation is at 11am. Service is at noon.
