From staff reports

Valle Catholic High School welcomed alumnus Lieutenant Col. Mike Fallert to speak to students as part of the “Warriors At Work” program.

Fallert graduated from Valle Catholic in 1985, and retired from the United States Air Force in 2019.

Fallert talked with students about all the branches of the military — explaining the differences between enlisted personnel and officers.

He shared the military offers students the opportunity to pursue many career paths, including construction, engineering, information technology, psychology, mechanics, finance and law enforcement.

Fallert also shared the steps it takes to enter the military, and he also discussed the ROTC program.

The military offers travel, benefits and education, but Fallert said their first duty is to serve — and joining the military is a sacrifice. He encouraged student to pursue everything.

Fallert is currently a business partner with Audubon’s Hotel and Restaurant on Main Street here in Ste. Genevieve.

Speakers in the “Warriors At Work” program visit the campus twice per month, sharing information on a wide variety of professions. This is available to all students, freshmen through seniors.
