Sports Digest: Greenskeeper Revenge Tourney Saturday

ZELL — Ste. Genevieve Golf Club will be wrapping up the season with the Greenskeeper Revenge Tournament on Saturday.

Golf begins with an 11 a.m. shotgun start, and this is a two-person scramble formatted tournament.

The entry fee is $50 per player. Members will receive a $10 discount. The cost includes a cart, dinner and prizes based on your finish in flights.

The course will be set up with a slew of obstacles to overcome, so this won’t be an easy tournament.

Entries must be turned in by 5 p.m. this Friday.

Junior High Volleyball

Tournament Starts This Week

The Mineral Area Junior High School Activities Association Tournament will begin on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The event will run through Tuesday, Oct. 21.

All matches will be played in the Potosi Middle School gymnasium (John Evans Middle School) at 303 South Lead Street in Potosi.

Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.

Brackets will not be released until Thursday, Oct. 14.

The seventh-grade tournament will conclude on Wednesday, Oct. 20, with the third-place and championship matches. The third-place match will be at 6 p.m., followed by the championship at 7 p.m.

The same time format will be followed in the eighth-grade tournament, which concludes on Thursday, Oct. 21 — with the third-place match at 6 p.m. and championship at 7 p.m.

R.W. Thomas Basketball Sign-Ups

The Ste. Genevieve County Community Center has announced sign-ups have begun for the R.W. Thomas Basketball League.

This league is for boys and girls from first through fourth grade.

Practices will run the month of December, with games beginning in January.

Applications can be picked up at the community center, or download them at the facility’s website: www.sgcc.com. Sign-ups will run through Oct. 31.

The first- and second-grade division will focus on skill building, without the worry of keeping score.

Games will generally run from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. 

The fee is $30, and includes a T-shirt. All entries received after Oct. 31 will be assessed a $5 late fee.
