Heritage Commission OK’s Ramp On N. Fourth

Ste. Genevieve Heritage Commission members quickly approved a Certificate of Appropriateness to construct an ADA-compliant ramp to the rear of the house, replace cellar doors at the rear of the house, and add a handrail to front porch steps at 41 North Fourth at its Sept. 20 meeting.
Commission member Mark Buchheit asked the applicant, Patrick Forhan, why he was going with a concrete ramp instead of wood. Forhan said, while it would also be less expensive, that was not his main reason.
He said that “It seemed more sturdy” and should have “greater longevity.”
It was quickly passed by a 3-0 vote, with two members absent.
This was the only item of new business on the agenda.
