Shirley A. Esselman, 82, of Perryville, MO passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021.
She was born January 21, 1939 in Ste. Genevieve, MO to Edward Lawrence and Ida Francis (Stuppy) Roth.
She and Leonard A. Esselman Jr. were married April 28, 1962 at Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church, Ste Genevieve, MO. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2016.
Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno, MO.
She worked as a skiver at Prince Gardner, St. Mary, MO for twenty-two years, and then worked at International Shoe factory, Perryville, MO for eight years.
Shirley loved her family, the outdoors, animals, gardening, farming, and camping. She enjoyed playing cards, finding four leaf clovers, walking trails, and being with her beloved maltese dog, Rambo.
Survivors include two daughters: Lisa Ann (Dave) Perry of Arnold, MO and Annette Marie (Richard) Sharp of Weldon Spring, MO ; five grandchildren: Allen and Karen Perry, Joshua, Matthew, and Timothy Sharp, and numerous nieces, nephews,and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Gilbert (Kathryn) Roth and Edgar (Nellie) Roth; and one sister and brother-in-law: Loretta (Glennon) Wright.
Visitation will be held at Ford & Young Funeral Home, Perryville on Thursday, September 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno on Friday, September 24 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Joe Geders C.M. and Deacon Jim Carter co-officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Perryville, MO.
In lieu of flowers family prefers memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Masses.
