Leon “Sonny” Meyer

Leon “Sonny” Meyer, 75 years old, of Weingarten, MO, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

He was born January 26, 1946 in Apple Creek, MO and was married to Doris (Kreitler) Meyer on February 17, 1968.

He is survived by Wife, Doris Meyer of Weingarten, MO; Two Sons, Jeff (Annette) Meyer of Weingarten, MO and Jeremy (Megan) Meyer of Weingarten, MO; Daughter, Julie (Chris) Klein of Weingarten, MO; Sister, Annette Zahner-McEntee of St. Louis, MO; Brother, William (Glenda) Meyer of Weingarten, MO; Brother-in-law, Ronald Emmendorfer of St. Joseph, MO; Sister-in-law, Mary Ann Meyer of Bridgeton, MO; Sister-in-law, Judy (Jim) Brown, Ste. Genevieve; Brother-in-law, William (Judy) Kreitler, Bloomsdale; Grandchildren: Olivia, Luke, Alyson, Matthew, Isaac, and one granddaughter on the way. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Father, Rudolph Meyer; Mother, Mary Meyer; Step-Mother, Lillian Meyer; Sister, Marilyn Emmendorfer; Brother, Vincent Paul Meyer; Two Brother-in-laws, Jerry Zahner and Bob McEntee; Two Nephews, Mike Emmendorfer and Billy Joe Meyer; Mother-in-law, Mary Jane Arnold Kreitler.

Visitation was at Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, MO on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 and Thursday, September 16, 2021.

Service was at Our Lady Help of Christians on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00 am. The Clergy was Rev. Francis Koeninger.

Burial wasat Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery.

Sonny was the Commander for the VFW for 10 years and was Parish chair person for the ACA. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather and a good friend to all the knew him. Sonny enjoyed tractor pulling, loved working on his farm, and collecting “junk” as his family would say.
