Four-Team Jamboree Friday In Ste. Gen

Ste. Genevieve High School’s football team will play host to a jamboree beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.

The admission fee is $2 for adults and $1 for students.

The participating schools are Ste. Genevieve, Valle Catholic, St. Pius X of Festus and Park Hills Central.

The jamboree will run in accordance with rules outlined from the Missouri State High School Activities Association.

Linebackers will not blitz.

However, defensive linemen may pursue the ball from a slanted position.

Teams will flip a coin for the choice of offense or defense first.

Refreshment breaks will be taken, as needed. There will be no time limit, and teams have been assigned a bench area.

This will mark the first jamboree since the 2019 season.

“The jamboree can sometimes help to solidify some starting spots and clear up some question marks,” said Valle Catholic head coach Judd Naeger.

First-year Ste. Genevieve head coach Jay Pope chimed in.

Pope said the most important part of the jamboree is to emerge healthy — and ready to go — for the regular-season opener against Festus on Aug. 27. Valle Catholic will play at Skyline the same night.

“If the kids play with great effort, and enjoy themselves in the process,” Pope added, “that will be a pretty good determinate of how the season may go.”

Ste. Genevieve R-II athletic director Dr. Jeff Nix also commented.

“There will be a lot of
