Mike Sweeney, Bicentennial coordinator for the state of Missouri, set up Bicentennial photo exhibits, along with two other Missouri State Historical Society employees, at the Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center last Thursday.

Mary Elise Okenfuss of the Welcome Center explained that the exhibit was originally supposed to arrive in February, but was postponed due to snow storms.

Sweeney, Danielle Griego and Zack Palitzsch assembled Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall photo exhibits.

Sweeney said 998 photos were received when the call was put out for residents to send in photos that captured the essence of Missouri. Photos came in from 97 of Missouri’s 114 counties. The Bicentennial organization selected 200 for public displays, although all 998 are viewable online.
