Deputy Hurt In One Of Three June 1 Crashes

FROM STAFF REPORTS

Deputy sheriff Jeff Dorenkamp was one of a handful of people injured  in accidents in Ste. Genevieve County between May 30 and June 1.

At 10:50 a.m. on June 1, Dorenkamp was westbound on Route Y, west of Dietfelbinger Drive in a Sheriff’s Department vehicle, a 2016 Dodge Charger, when a 2004 GMC Sierra, driven by Ronald J. Burle, 65, of St. Louis, slid into Dorenkamp’s path. The right front of the Sierra struck the front of the Charger.

Both drivers suffered moderate injuries, while Carl O. Lewis, 57,  a passenger of Burle, suffered minor injuries.

Burle and Lewis were taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by the Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District, while Dorenkamp was taken to Mercy St. Louis. He was the only one wearing a seat belt, according to the highway patrol report.
