Potosi Ends Strong Valle Softball Campaign With 16-9 Mark

From staff reports

A solid season came to a close with a 16-9 record as Ste. Genevieve fell 5-3 to Potosi in district play last week.

” We played really well as a team tonight,” said head coach Russell Toombs. “It just wasn’t enough to beat a very good Potosi team.”

“I’m so proud of this entire team. The seniors have done a tremendous leadership job this entire year. We will miss their leadership and attitudes.”

The Dragons got seven hits. Izzy Basler went 3-for-4 from her leadoff spot scoring two runs and belting a triple.  Cleanup hitter Chloe Walker went 2-for-3 and also scored.

The other hits were by Morgan Schwent and Autumn Basler. Schwent drove in a run.

Autumn Basler took the loss, yielding four runs – only one earned – on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. She struck out five and walked two. Faith Lincoln threw the final one and one-third innings.
