Public Meeting Friday On Electric Line

From Staff Reports

State representatives Dale Wright, Cyndi Nuchheit-Courtway and Mike Henderson, all three Ste. Genevieve County commissioners and at least some Citizens Electric Corporation board members are expected to attend a public meeting this Friday in Bloomsdale to discuss the 19k-volt power line being proposed by Wabash Valley Power and Citizens Electric Corporation along a 19-mile path in the northern and western parts of the county.

The meeting, at 6 p.m. at the Bloomsdale Knights of Columbus Hall.

Paul Henry, an eminent domain lawyer will also be there and will give an hour-long Power Point presentation at the start of the three-hour or so meeting.

The meeting is expected to last up to three hours.

Heather Carron, event organizer, and others impacted by the changing path of the proposed power line, have spoken to the county commission before on their frustrations. A virtual meeting put on by Wabash left stakeholders with more concerns than before, and also some anger. They said that questions were pre-screened and speakers were muted by the moderators.
