The Fourth Annual Old Settlement Varsity Softball Tournament is set to take place this Friday and Saturday.
Three different fields will be in use for the event, including Leon’s Field and Challenger Field — plus West County High School in Frankclay.
“It will be a busy weekend here,” said Valle Catholic head coach Kurt Basler. “It says so much about our community to give all the kids the opportunity to play on some of the nicest fields you will find anywhere.”
Pool No. 1 will take place at Leon’s Field, with Pool No. 2 at Challenger Field.
“It is a great blessing to have two turf fields in our community,” Ste. Genevieve High School head coach Russell Toombs said. “It allows us to have this great tournament, and have very few games rained out.”
Potosi, West County, Park Hills Central and Malden are the featured out-of-town teams, with the first three also Mineral Area Activities Association rivals.
Ste. Genevieve R-II athletic director Dr. Jeff Nix announced late Monday the addition of Grandview for the tournament.

Saturday’s schedule will be determined by a team’s overall record first followed by head-to-head competition, then runs allowed and finally a coin flip.
There will be a Gold, Silver and Bronze Brackets played at various fields, Gold at Leon’s Field, Silver at Challenger and Bronze at Yanks Field.
Games will begin at 1 p.m., with the third-place game at 4 p.m. and the Gold Bracket championship set for 5:30 p.m.
Ste. Genevieve finished third at the 2019 installment of the tournament.
