Effects Of Snow, Cold Lingered All Last Week

FROM STAFF REPORTS

After receiving several inches of snow Sunday night through Tuesday, the county got another light snow on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, temperatures only gradually climbed into double digits during the week.

Several water pipes and water mains broke during the cold, causing damage, including Silver Sycamore Fine Art Gallery, and at apartment complexes. Also the Herald office had a leak due to melting snow on the roof.

Meanwhile, many sidewalks remained snow-covered and graded snow was piled in high heaps all over town. This led to special footware being necessary  through the weekend.

Warm weather early this week is expected to melt much of it.
