Steelville Rallies By Ste. Gen

STEELVILLE — The Ste. Genevieve High School varsity girls’ basketball team found a replacement game this past Saturday versus Steelville.
The Dragons were up 34-29 at the end of three quarters of play; however, the Cardinals outscored Ste. Genevieve 18-10 in the fourth period for a 47-44 victory.
In the process, Steelville snapped Ste. Genevieve’s 11-game winning streak. Still, the Dragons are 15-5 heading into the final couple of games left in the regular season.
Maci Reynolds was the Dragons’ leading scorer with 15 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Abby Moore added 10 points.
“They were able to convert off of our turnovers late in the game,” Ste. Genevieve head girls’ coach Jordanna Walk-Robison said. “They kept us off the offensive glass, and they made some 3-pointers.”
This game was competitive throughout, with the Dragons ahead 25-21 at the break.
During the game, Steelville forward Sydney Booker scored her 1,500th career point., and she was the Cardinals’ leading scorer with 14 points. Alyssa Church contributed 11 points.
Ste. Genevieve had beaten Steelville earlier this season, 61-46, at the Bob Sechrest Jr. Christmas Tournament in Park Hills.

The Dragons, pending weather and travel conditions, return courtside with a road game at Festus Thursday — with junior varsity tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m.
