Lyla M. Bova

Lyla M. Bova  of St. Mary died Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Sainte Genevieve. She was 92 years old.

She was born November 25, 1928 in Kaskaskia, Illinois and was married to Lexie “Bucky” Bova on October 26, 1946. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by son, Michael D. (Cheryl) Bova of Ste. Genevieve; five grandchildren, David, Nikki, Cody, Adam and Sarah; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence F. Gendron; her mother, Marie A. Gendron; son, Terry J. Bova; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann (Armbruster) Bova; two brothers, Morris E. Layton, Lawrence C. Gendron; sister, Barbara F. Brown.

Service was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in St. Mary on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10 a.m.

Burial was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in St. Mary.

Lyla enjoyed playing the organ in Kaskaskia and St. Mary. She was involved in genealogy, writing three books on families from Kaskaskia.
