Valle Girls Play St. Pius Tonight

From staff reports

Basketballs are set to bounce at Valle Catholic High School this evening.

The Warrior girls’ basketball team will play St. Pius X of Festus at 6 p.m. tonight, bumping up a game that was originally scheduled for Dec. 2.

In addition, the Valle Catholic girls’ basketball team has been added to the Black and Red Doe Run Classic at Herculaneum.

Games will take place on Dec. 7, Dec. 9 and Dec. 11, said Valle Catholic co-athletic director Nancy Fischer.

All varsity games will start at 6 p.m., with the exception of a game versus Grandview, due to the Warriors not fielding a junior varsity team this year.

The Valle Catholic boys’ basketball team opened up play in the Scott City Tournament on Monday, taking on Jefferson R-7.

The Warriors will play host Scott City today at 7:30 p.m., and they will wrap up tournament play versus Saxony Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, the Valle Catholic boys had an inter-squad scrimmage at the school, with Blue defeating White 56-53 in a highly competitive contest.

The Valle Catholic wrestling team also began regular-season competition this week with a dual on the road at New Madrid County Central — also featuring Kennett.

The Warrior wrestlers won’t have a home dual until Dec. 16, versus Festus.

Ste. Genevieve

Meanwhile, the Ste. Genevieve High School wrestling team will enjoy plenty of home cooking early this season.

The Dragons opened up the season last night with a home dual against Park Hills Central and Gateway Science of St. Louis.

Ste. Genevieve also will have a scramble this Saturday, for both the boys’ and girls’ programs.  The boys’ scramble will feature Poplar Bluff, Oakville, The Fulton School (St. Albans) and Potosi.
