This has been a whirlwind time for Valle Catholic High School senior outside hitter Riley Siebert.

First, the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association recently named Siebert an all-state selection — along with teammate Ella Bertram.

And Siebert recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her career at John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill.

Carterville, in terms of population, is a bit larger than Ste. Genevieve — however, Siebert was comfortable in the new setting right away.

“It felt a lot like home,” Siebert said. “I love it there, and that helped with my decision.”

Siebert said Valle Catholic assistant coach Stacie Sargent also helped steer her decision to join the program at John A. Logan.

John A. Logan produced a successful season in 2019, the Volunteers’ most recent campaign due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, going 30-10 under head coach Bill Burnside.

The Volunteers’ roster features several former area volleyball standouts from Missouri, including ex-Jackson standout Olivia Hallet.

According to wikipedia.org, John A. Logan is a public community college with an enrollment of 4,424 students according to the most recent figure released in 2016.

Siebert went on an official visit of campus, learning about the coaching staff and she asked the players questions.

“I am super excited to be able to keep doing what I love,” Siebert said. “Being a student-athlete, I get to experience school in a fun way.”
