COLUMBIA — The Valle Catholic High School girls’ cross country team punctuated a stellar 2020 campaign with a second-place finish on Saturday.

During a breezy afternoon at Gans Creek, the Warrior girls compiled 109 points — which was 18 points more than winner College Heights Christian.

Camryn Basler spearheaded the Warriors’ finish by earning an all-state medal. Basler, a junior, clocked in at 22 minutes, 8.07 seconds, which was good enough for 17th place overall.

“Camryn became the first female since cross country was restarted in 2010 to earn all-district, all-conference and all-state honors (the same year),” said Valle Catholic head coach Samer Zoughaib.

Seniors Mary Roth, Rachel Valle and Nicole Valle finished in the respective spots of 31st, 34th and 35th.

Roth clocked in with a time of 22:5
