COLUMBIA — The Ste. Genevieve High School cross country program has returned to prominence.
Especially after the Dragon boys recorded a 10th-place finish as a team on Thursday afternoon at Gans Creek Park in the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 3 state meet.
Devin St. Clair also became Ste. Genevieve’s first all-state medalist since 2016 when Ben Naeger, Schuyler Ogden and Nathaniel Ogden pulled off the accomplishment.
“It was great to see Devin earn all-state honors,” said Ste. Genevieve head cross country coach Sierra Boyd. “He raced well and confidently.
“He started the race in all-state position,” Boyd continued. “But then he dropped back into the low 30s. Watching him race back into the top-20 in the last 1,000 meters was a testament to his desire for carrying on the traditional at SGHS.”
St. Clair clocked in with a time of 17 minutes, 7.09 seconds, which was good enough for 20th overall.
