This Friday’s game versus Perryville-based parochial school St. Vincent High School is still on, according to officials from Valle Catholic.

St. Vincent has yet to play a game this season on account of COVID-19 (coronavirus). The Indians first two games of the season — at Central on Aug. 28 and Scott City at home on Sept. 4 — were both scrapped.

Naeger said he’s concerned about playing St. Vincent because this will be the Indians’ season-opener.

“They have some big, strong kids,” Naeger said. “They have good quarterback play, and an offensive line with experience. They will give us everything we can handle.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Dempsey Field.

STE. GENEVIEVE AT KENNETT

Ste. Genevieve will travel to Kennett for a game versus last year’s Class 3 state semifinalist.

Kennett’s big-play offensive and stout defense are concerns, Weik said. The Indians have outscored their first two foes, Malden and Doniphan, by a combined 117-15.

“They have hardly any weaknesses, and playing at Kennett, it’s a tough atmosphere,” Weik noted.
