Tom J. “Toddy” Lurk

Tom J. “Toddy” Lurk, of Port Gibson, Mississippi died Saturday, July 4, 2020, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He was 80 years old

He was born March 28, 1940 in Ste. Genevieve. He was married to Shirley (Nevois) Lurk on July 23, 1960 and she survives in Port Gibson, Mississippi.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Duane Lurk and his wife Carla of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Danny Lurk of Bolton, Mississippi, and Dean Lurk of Birmingham, Alabama; one daughter, Tammy Bost and her husband Danny of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is also survived by sisters Alouise Wiegard and her husband Bill of Modoc, Illinois and Mary Ann Drag and her husbanmd Clem of Weldon Springs, Missouri; and brothers Charlie Lurk and his wife Roberta of Red Bud, Illinois, Joe Lurk and his wife Pat of Ste Genevieve,  John Lurk and his wife Linda of Bloomsdale,  and Bill Lurk of Ste Genevieve. He is also survived by grandchildren  Kelsey Bost, Wesley Bost, Kristen Bost Holm, Caroline Bost, Josh Lurk, Ryan Lurk, Jacob Lurk, Lauren Lurk Powell, Danielle Lurk. 

  He was preceded in death by his father, Tom W. Lurk , his mother, Lenora (Klein) Lurk and grandsons  Tyler Bost and Cory Lurk

Tom and his family moved to The Valley of the Moon Ranch, in Hermanville, Mississippi, in 1967 where he farmed with his dad and brother Charlie.  Later moved to Port Gibson, where he worked and retired from Claiborne County Road Dept as a mechanic. He was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Gibson. Tom enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and loved his family and grandchildren.

A private service was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Gibson on Tuesday, July 7 with Father Anthony Claret Onyeocha officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Port Gibson.
