Sheriff’s Department Apprehend Three

Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Department personnel assisted another agency on Saturday and captured three suspects.

The department’s Facebook page detailed the beginning of the situation.

“We are currently working an active crime scene at the 153 mile marker, north bound Interstate 55,” the post said. “We assisted in a pursuit. The vehicle crashed between the 153/154 mile marker. 3 black males in jeans and t-shirt ran from I-55 toward Highway 61. One of the three have been arrested.”

It added that, “The other two should be considered armed and dangerous.”

With some help from vigilant residents, the department soon had all three men captured.

Sheriff Gary Stolzer expressed appreciation for the public assistance.

“The citizens being vigilent after they were notified helped us apprehend them, that’s for sure,” he said. “The citizens did a great job in pointing us in the right direction whenever they did see something.”
