Opinions For, Against Having 2020 Event Expressed In Town Hall Meeting

Opinions both for and against having the 53rd Jour de Fete this August were voiced by a crowd of some two dozen people at the American Legion Hall on June 3.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9.
Jour de Fete Committee president Jami Inman reflected those mixed emotions.

“We have not decided yet if we’re going to have Jour de Fete,” Inman said. “We’ve just been kind of working toward the goal of, if we do have it, we know what we’re doing and we have all of our ducks in a row.”
She said a final decision to move forward will be made by the second week of July.
“We’re trying to take everything into consideration,” she said. “We’ve been talking to the health department. … So, we’re trying, as best as possible, to take everything into consideration. Of course, safety is the most important thing.”
Inman stressed that it has been a difficult decision for the board, which includes members who have been involved for several years and three newcomers who have stepped in to replace retiring members.
