Hospital Board, School Board Among Races On June 2 Ballot
Municipal elections generally are quiet affairs without a lot of attention from voters.
The run-up to this spring’s rescheduled election — delayed from April 7 to Tuesday, June 2 — has been even more low-key than usual.
Even some of the candidates contacted last week weren’t sure when it was or how many days away it was.
The COVID-19 pandemic that caused its postponement in the first place has continued to take the spotlight in the news. And the Memorial Day holiday further took the attention of voters away from the election.
But most Ste. Genevieve County voters will have at least two items on the ballot next week, and voters in the city of St. Mary will have a three-way mayoral race to decide along with a referendum of UTVs and golf carts.
St. Mary Mayor Gloria Bader is being challenged by former mayor Carl Wyatt and former alderman Paul Franklin.
