International Treats Delivered To Students

Students in Dr. Rhett Oldham’s topics and research in history class were used to eating foods from around the world each month when they received a package from Universal Yums, a company that sends out snacks and treats from a different country or region each month. Through the pandemic, students have missed out on treats from Brazil in March and Scandinavia in April in the classroom, so packages were delivered to students’ homes, using social distances norms and guidelines. The contents of the boxes change each month as the company highlights the best snacks from each featured country, but students can always expect a mix of flavors, and only authentic snacks from the featured country are included. While the Universal Yum box items were fun and enthusiastically received by the students, Oldham said that the real gift was having the opportunity to check in on his students, say hello, and see how everyone is doing in these unprecedented times.
