The virtual meeting was held on Zoom and lasted a little more than four minutes.
Alvarez and co-owner Mauricio Banderas Aguirre were requesting that their property on Highway 32 be rezoned from R-1 Residential to C-1 Commercial.
The land had been annexed into the city of Ste. Genevieve earlier this spring. It will be the new site of Plaza Azteca Family Grill [formerly known as El San Felipe restaurant], which is moving from its current location at 634 Ste. Genevieve Drive.
A motion to recommend approval was made almost immediately and seconded. It passed 6-0 with three absent.
The annexation had passed 7-1 at the March 12 Board of Aldermen meeting, following a public hearing earlier in the meeting.
