Start Of Local Summer Music Programs Delayed By Coronavirus

The Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Music Festival is adjusting its schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The opening concert was planned for Friday, June 5, at the Orris Theatre with Chattahoochie, a tribute to country musician Alan Jackson by Tim Campbell. That show has been postponed until Friday, August 14.
The show scheduled for Friday, June 12, has been canceled. Theband, Blue Marlin, was not available for a makeup date.
Chamber of Commerce executive director Dena Kreitler said the organization will reevaluate the rest of June before the end of May,
— The Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band will not begin its series of summer concerts in the month of May, director John Mooney said last week.
He said that since the Ste. Genevieve R-II facilities, which the band uses for practice, are closed until the end of May, the band will not be gathering to practice.
“After that, we will see,” Mooney wrote. “Right now, everything is on hold.”
The band usually performs in the Valle Desert parking lot on Thursday nights at 8 p,m., weather permitting.
