SGHS Announces Potential Dates For Prom/Graduation
The Ste. Genevieve R-II School District has scheduled back-up dates in the event that Ste. Genevieve High School’s graduation ceremony may not take place as planned on Saturday. May 16.
The district has selected dates in June and July for a potential prom and graduation weekend that may be used “when it becomes more apparent that we cannot provide a ceremony to our deserving seniors” on May 16.
Plan 1 is to have the prom on Friday, June 19, at a location to be determined, and to have graduation on Saturday, June 20 at 8 p.m.
For those seniors entering the military with departure dates before June 20, a small graduation ceremony would take place for them on Saturday, May 16.
Plan 2 is to have prom on Friday, July 24, at a location to be determined and to have graduation on Saturday, July 25, at 8 p.m.
For those seniors entering the military with departure dates before July 25, a small graduation ceremony would be planned at a location and date to be determined.
The district’s release notes that the events will also need to be cleared and deemed safe by Centers for Disease Control guidelines and the Ste. Genevieve County Health Department.
“Our goal in making these adjustments is to be able to hold an appropriate ceremony for our class of 2020, hopefully one where our students can all be together one more time to celebrate this achievement,” the release said.
