State Bill For National Park On Hold For Now
The coronavirus pandemic has brought many things to a halt in the United States, including progress toward establishment of the Sainte Genevieve National Historical Park.
Missouri House Bill 2315, which would convey three properties to the U.S. Department of the Interior in order to help establish the park with five properties in total, was headed for a third and final vote on the House floor on March 19.
“But the session was called off due to the COVID-19 coronavirus,” said State Representative Dale Wright, who sponsored the bill. “We are on spring break [last week], and we were told by leadership they didn’t know when they will call us back. When they do, it should be one of the first bills heard because of the emergency clause.”
The Senate version of the bill had not gone to committee yet, Wright said.
“Right now, I’m sorry to say we are in a state of waiting until leadership decides when we will return,” Wright said.
