Debra L. Wolk
Debra L. Wolk of Ste. Genevieve died on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Mercy St. Louis Hospital. She was 64 years old.
She was born on December 19, 1955, in Ste. Genevieve.
She was married to Donnie Wolk in Ste. Genevieve on July 10, 1977, and he survives in Ste. Genevieve.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother, Ruth Boyet of Ste. Genevieve; two daughters, Georgia Schwartz and her husband Michael of Ste. Genevieve, Laura Gegg and her husband Ben of Ste. Genevieve; two sons, Lonnie Wolk and his wife Chrissy of Ste. Genevieve, Vincent Wolk and his wife Madalynn of Warrenton; seven grandchildren, Dustin, Tiffany, Mallory, Launa, Bryna, Landon, Brynlee; three sisters, Lee-Ann Kertz and her husband Wayne of Mountain View, Wyoming; Lisa Roth and her husband Kevin of Ste. Genevieve, Mary-Lou Williams and her husband Calvin of Ste. Genevieve; and family friend, Danny Kemper and his wife Julie of Louisville, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Boyet; and one brother, John Boyet.
She was a loving wife, mother, and extra special grandmother. Caring for others was her career and a personal passion. She served in the field of nursing, first in nursing homes, then providing in-home care, and then working at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital for 30 years. Several areas of the hospital benefited from her skill and empathy, but her love and passion resided in the OB department. Many babies in the community were brought into this world with her assistance.
If she was not working, you could find her at the ball fields, in a gym, or on the sidelines cheering on any event in which her kids or grandkids were involved in. She was always up for a good road trip and enjoyed many visits to Las Vegas to work the slot machines and the beach. She loved being on the go, whether it be going out to eat or shopping for the best deals.
She was a “mom” to more than just her four children; she was known as “mom” by many. Her door was always open and she was always willing to listen. She would do anything to help — even if that was telling you what you did not want to hear. Her house was never empty and that’s how she liked it. To her a full house was a full heart.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 21 at First Baptist Church in Ste. Genevieve. Rev. Roger Faulkner officiated. Burial was at Crestlawn Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve. Basler Funeral Home of Ste. Genevieve handled the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
